Why Zanzibar?
A tropical paradise in the Indian Ocean, 25-50 km from the African coast. Zanzibar is part of Tanzania and includes several smaller islands and 2 main islands. The largest is Unguja, that is, the main island, and the smaller Pemba Island. The capital, Stone Town, is located on the main island, it is protected as a national heritage and a cultural center.
The beautiful place has miles of pristine sandy beaches. We recommend Zanzibar to those who love sunshine, a calm and safe atmosphere, and enjoy discovering the special flora and fauna in the turquoise ocean.
What else characterizes the island: cultural diversity, nice and cheerful people, rich historical buildings and places, romantic bays, great climate, diverse cuisine with special spices, authentic market, monkeys and giant tortoises, beautiful and demanding hotels.
Before relaxing on the beach, it is worth taking part in a land safari in one of Tanzania's national parks.
Worth knowing: Swahili and English are spoken on the islands, and the Tanzanian shilling is the currency used. Dollars printed before 2009 are not accepted, and can no longer be exchanged in banks. Worthy $50 and $100 bills are preferred. Since there are few places where you can pay with a bank card and there are ATM machines only in the city, it is worth bringing cash.
They are Muslims and strictly adhere to their culture.
Zanzibar's time zone is GMT +3.
As it falls close to the equator, the sun is very strong, so it is worth using a high-factor sunscreen. Since the tides are relatively large, it is worth choosing a hotel with a pool during low tide.
Vaccination: There is no mandatory vaccination for people coming from Europe. Those coming from an infected African country need a vaccination against jaundice.
It is forbidden to bring nylon bags into the country, you will be fined.
When should we travel? Temperatures are generally warm throughout the year, averaging between 22°C and 32°C. The peak season is from December to February and from June to October, as these months are the driest months of the year. In the rainy season - from March to May - and the beginning of November and December, it is not so favorable for a beach holiday.
For travel you need:
