Why Hawaii?
A tropical paradise of golden sandy beaches, waterfalls and lush forests, the archipelago of the "Aloha State" lies in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, the secluded archipelago's exotic landscapes and luxurious hospitality offer rich experiences from bubbling volcanoes and unforgettable surfing to the amazing cultural heritage of Polynesia.
The archipelago is located 4,000 km from the west coast of the USA and consists of 5 larger islands and more than 100 smaller islands.
We recommend it to those who like special things, adventures, and beautiful landscapes. It is recommended to visit 2-3 islands, but of course if the traveler sees more, he will get new experiences, since every island is different.
Which island?
It is worth choosing according to what the traveler is interested in. Are you looking for volcanoes, mountains, a bustling beach, lots of activities or a more romantic, secluded place?
You can travel between the islands by plane or, for smaller distances, by boat.
Oahu: The 3rd largest member of the archipelago, the most visited and most populated island lies on an area of 1,550 km2. The main island is recommended for everyone, in addition to the capital Honolulu, full of cultural programs, the island offers beautiful landscapes with lush plantations, tropical beaches, and there is also a surfing paradise on the North Shore.
Kauai: The oldest island, folded rocks and gaping chasms have been shaped by wind and water into an amazing landscape. Also known as the Garden Island, Kauai's emerald green vegetation, waterfalls, canyons and viewpoints are really worth a few days out of your way.
Maui: The 2nd largest island, it offers bustling resorts with lots of water sports, lush plantations and the awe-inspiring volcano of Haleakalá Volcano. Some say it has the best beaches in the world, if you visit in the winter months book a tour to see the majestic whales as Maui has some of the best whale watching in the world.
Moloka'i: Small but touristically developed island. Most visitors are charmed by its gentle pace of life, the beauty of the flowery south coast and the national beach in front of the world's highest sea cliffs, the Kalaupappa National Historical Park.
Hawaii – Big Island: The largest island, 10,450 km2. Its natural wonders include Mauna Loa, the most massive mountain on Earth, rising more than 9,150 meters from the ocean floor, and Kilauea, the most active volcano on our planet. Everything can be found here, from rainforests and botanical gardens to white sand beaches and barren volcanic mountains.
When should we travel?
While Hawaii is a great destination year-round, the best weather is in April, May, September, and October. June, July and August are hot and very humid periods. Because it is close to the equator, the sun is strong. From November to April, the weather is a few degrees cooler, with showers and wind, especially on the north/northeast (windward) coasts of each island. This is the favorite time for surfers. The weather also depends on the geographical conditions, large differences are possible even within the island.
For travel you need:
Passport: The passport must be valid for at least the duration of your stay in the USA. More information about this in English can be found here: https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/572.
However, to avoid possible inconveniences, it is always advisable to travel with a passport valid for at least one month beyond the date of exit from the USA. This also corresponds to the recommendation of the US Embassy in Budapest.
Visa: Hungarian citizens with a (burgundy) passport capable of storing biometric identification can travel to the United States of America for tourist and business purposes without obtaining a visa in advance, for a maximum stay of 90 days. triggering, as the absence of this will always lead to refusal of entry and reversal. This applies not only to entry, but also to airport transit!
